And so the third and final heat of Melodi Grand Prix took place on Saturday night in Norway. Didrik and a1 nabbed the top two positions and thus qualify for the final. Mira Craig and Karoline Garfjell came 3rd and 4th, and progress to the second chance round, which takes place this Saturday. Our beloved Belinda Braza was eliminated from the contest, along with Fred Endresen, and The Diamond.
The second chance round will see eight songs compete for the two remaining slots in the grand final, which will take place on February 6th. The songs which finished 3rd and 4th in heats 1,2, and 3 will all be there, along with two more songs which were announced today – the 2 songs that scored the highest amount of votes to achieve 5th place in their heats! Are you still with us?! Here’s the line up of the second chance round;
- Gaute Ormåsen – Synk eller svøm (Gaute Ormåsen, Laila Samuelsen, Kim Bergseth)
- Bjørn Johan Muri – Yes man (Simone Larsen, Simen Eriksrud, Bjørn Johan Muri)
- Venke Knutson – Jealous ’cause I love you (L Samuelsen, A Kronlund, Lucas Hilbert)
- Heine Totland – The best of me is you (Heine Totland, Hans P Aaserud, Arne Hovda)
- Mira Craig – I’ll take you high (Mira Craig)
- Karoline Garfjell – Tokyo night (Aggie Peterson)
- Skanksters – Life is here today (Arne Hovda)
- Johnny Hide – Rewind love (Julian Berntzen)
It’s more or less a given that ‘Yes Man’ will qualify, seeing as how it’s already become such a big hit in Norway. But we’re hoping that the remaining slot goes to Venke Knutson. We love that song!
Here are the performances from Saturday night’s show, starting with our favourite and going down in favour order until our least favourite!
