Tonight, the 2010 Junior Eurovision Song Contest took place. We didn’t watch it mind (it clashed with Dansbandskampen!), but we did catch the voting. And we were sad to see that Scandinavia’s sole representation at the contest, Sweden, had to settle for an 11th place finish – languishing fourth from bottom. Armenia won.
Josefine Ridell represented Sweden with the beat heavy ballad, ‘Allt Jag Vill Ha’. It’s a really nice song actually, but perhaps a bit too much of a grower, which always spells disaster at these contests. The performance (which we caught on youtube straight afterwards) wasn’t the most confident either, although we’re not sure it’s fair to compare a 13 year old with the kind of performances that we’re used to watching. But we were VERY impressed by her note belting from the middle eight onwards. We’re sure this won’t be the last we see or hear of Josefine!
Here’s the performance;
Personally though, we thought it was ALL about Latvia’s Sarlote & Sea Stones, with ‘Viva La Dance’. Specifically, the amazing schlager-tastic chorus of ‘Viva La Dance’! And the key change. Totally fab!
