Swedish pop duo, Straight Up, were this week unveiled as the artist who would be recording the official song for Stockholm Pride 2011. Every year a different act gets the honour, with acts such as Alcazar and BWO having done so in the past.
Regular readers of scandipop will already know Straight Up, from their previous singles, ‘Twink’ and ‘XXXmas At The Disco’ (both featured here for your listening pleasure!). But for those who haven’t heard of them, they’re a pair of cheeky chappies who are openly gay and aren’t afraid to allow a bit slapstick sodomist sleaze penetrate into their pop songs! So naturally, they were never going to hold anything back for a song recorded to celebrate gay pride. And delightfully so!
The song is called ‘Show The World Tonight’ and it’s a pounding club tune. The beats are rock hard, and the synths vibrate to marvelous effect as the song intrusively yet pleasingly burrows itself into your body. It injects a sweet and satisfying melody along its way, emptying its creative juices all over your soul, and drenching you in pure pop sugar. You may need a lie down after you’ve listened!
You can hear the song, full length and uncut, in the stream below! Skip to the 07:38 mark.
