Ace new dance tune alert!
Before we’d even heard it, the arrival of ‘Strong’ by Stellar Project featuring Emelie Norenberg excited us for two reasons – Stellar Project and Emelie Norenberg! Stellar Project are the act behind one of our favourite dance tunes of all time, 2003’s truly incredible ‘Get Up Stand Up’. And Emelie Norenberg was a member of the Swedish girlband Play, before they disbanded earlier this year.
‘Strong’ is another case of Sweden meets Romania and they ‘get it on’ on a Balearic beach, that we’ve already heard this year from SOJO and ‘I Remember’. It’s a formula that we like. A lot. And so we hope to hear many other songs follow that trend this year. This one focuses less on the pop melodies though, and more on the production. So it’s not a peak time 1am floorfiller, but more a 4am sun-comes-up floor retainer – the type of song that would easily inject a fresh lease of life onto a dancefloor when it’s needed, and make people stay that little bit longer. And it’s very summery. Scorchingly so!
