Next week she releases a brand-new EP ‘Honor The Light’ (ahead of a brand-new album in February – ‘Venus’), but today Swedish pop superstar Zara Larsson has released two new songs, as a taster of that forthcoming EP. ‘Winter Song’ is a cover of the modern-day festive classic (also done beautifully by Sarah Dawn Finer a decade or so ago), plus a newly composed song ‘Memory Lane’. On ‘Memory Lane’ she sings it from the point of view of remembering a misspent youth, coupled with gratitude for the present-day self. The melodic recollection is paired with a sound that blends the minimalism of the pop productions of today, with the complex and expensive layers of productions past – specifically Y2K r&b. And it’s that nod to the past – our own memory lane – that really makes this pop!
