What’s this? Pete Tong has been running with this ‘classical music does dance music’ thing ever since BBC Radio 3 had him oversee their Ibiza night at the BBC Proms a few years back. And now he’s released an album of ‘Chilled Classics’. Classical re-recordings of big dance tunes. On it, we’re drawn to one song in particular – Zara Larsson’s re-recording of Kleerup & Robyn’s ‘With Every Heartbeat’.
What’s it’s like? It takes an already beautiful song and bathes it in lush strings and piano tinkles. The song is a masterpiece, we all know that. This version just allows it to showcase that in a whole new light. And Zara herself does a stellar job at delivering a fresh vocal-take on the song.
More please? Well Pete Tong has actually got a special fondness for this recording, seemingly. Tacked onto the end of the album, he’s singled out Zara’s ‘With Every Heartbeat’ to have a full orchestral version included.
