The first episode of Songland Sweden aired on SVT over the weekend. In the series, non-established songwriters are given the opportunity to pitch one of their compositions to be recorded by a different artist every week. A panel of established songwriters – Carl Falk, Nea and Elias Kapari – mentor the composers in each episode, with that week’s featured artist then deciding on a winner. In the first episode, Oscar Zia was faced with picking his favourite, to then record. Lovisa Niklasson was the winning songwriter, and her song, ‘Golvet i Hallan’, is the beautiful, emotionally-charged tune that Oscar now releases as his new single. That chorus in itself is a very strong start to a show that we hope takes off in Sweden and continues.
