The 2022 series of Så Mycket Bättre wrapped up over the weekend, with the last episode airing on TV4 on Saturday night. It ended on a particularly beautiful high, too, with Molly Hammar tackling Anne-Lie Rydé’s Melodifestivalen entry from 2005, ‘Så Nära’. The song is one of our favourite schlager tunes of all time, and that’s even before we get onto the iconic (for all the right – or wrong – reasons) performance. Molly took the schlager banger and turned it into a soulful ballad, on which we get to hear her vocals bring that for-the-ages melody out into a whole new light. A timeless classic being immortalised once more in a new version – results like this are when Så Mycket Bättre is at its most magical.
