What’s this? Norwegian artist Maria Mena is back with her first English-language release since 2020’s ‘They Never Leave Their Wives’ album. This is her new single ‘It Was Love’.
What’s it like? A layered song of reflection which seemingly builds and builds as Maria lands on increasing clarity about the situation she’s digging deep into. As with any song that builds this way, it’s the climactic finish that’s the star of the show, on which she’s joined by a 16-person choir.
Written by? The artist herself, along with Olav Tronsmoen.
More from Maria? During the summer of 2021, she released the enormously uplifting ‘Speil‘.
