What’s this? Words we’d always hoped we’d type one day – KEiiNO have released the most successful song of the year so far, currently clocking in at over 620 million streams on Spotify.
Well yeah, but we’ve already heard ‘Monument’, what gives? No. They’ve recorded a cover of Olivia Rodrigo’s mega-hit ‘Drivers License’.
What have they done with it? WELL! Let’s just say the first place they’re taking a trip to with that newly obtained drivers license of theirs is an illegal rave at a location off the Oslo to Bergen motorway, the precise co-ordinates to be revealed by text message at 8pm on the night. The hyper wee joikers!
So they’ve given it the ‘Shallow’ treatment? That’s the one!
What do KEiiNO say? “Excitement about finally seeing an end to the current situation was combined with built up frustration, and the result was a mid-tempo song turned into a high-paced dance track. We think our version also proves that a great song can become even more powerful with a bit of joik,”
