Who? 20-year-old Hector from Härnösand in Sweden first rose to fame on the 2016 series of Swedish Idol, in which he competed as his birth-assigned gender – a female – Saga Brännlund. Mid-way through the series he came out as a trans man, and soon after pursued his career as an artist. This is his first single in a while – ‘Inte Mer Än Så’.
What’s it like? A melancholic, beat-driven ballad that’s rich in pop melody. It’s the sort of song it’s difficult to reference in 2021 without mentioning the new blueprint of its genre – ‘Svag’ by Victor Leksell. Very much of that ilk.
What does he say about it? The song “is about the uncertainty between two people who have known each other for a long time, and where one has started to like the other, but does not know how to handle the situation.”
Written by? Hector himself, along with Birk Frisk, who also produced it.
