FuckYesNewMags!!! Pretty much, yeah! We’ve all long given up hope of ever hearing that Margaret Berger album. And even the thought of a new Margaret Berger single is too big a dream to dare allow one’s self. Thankfully though, somebody’s finally done something about it. Step forward Norwegian production duo F.A.C.E (Per Kristian Fox Trollvik and Paulo Velasquez). Clearly also missing Margaret’s presence in pop music, they wrote a song, sent it to the great lady, and gave her an invite up to their Tromsø studio to record it. She accepted.
What’s it like? Somewhat marvellously, it’s actually a pretty spot-on Margaret Berger track, as it happens. What they’ve done is made a song that is going to appeal to fans of her music. It’s an uplifting synthpop track with a huge emphasis on its melody. As in – the verse, bridge, chorus, and middle eight are all vying for melodic supremacy, with us listeners ending up as the real winners. Production-wise it’s a bit 80s and a tad Years & Years. And it’s a one-listen-and-you’re-on-board kinda affair. It ought to be a global smash really. Really.
