Emmelie! Former Eurovision winner (imagine being able to refer to yourself as that for the rest of your life!) Emmelie de Forest returned to pop music yesterday with the release of her brand new single. ‘Hopscotch’.
What’s it like? Well it’s certainly nothing like any Emmelie de Forest song you’ve ever heard before. Its purer in its pop sensibilities, and ends up as a bouncy sonic reinvention for her. Hand claps, a tinkly piano, drum beats, and a chanty chorus make for an infectiously jovial pop track.
Best bit? By the time the final chorus rolls around, it cements itself as being actually quite brilliant.
