She’s coming to the UK? She is. After building up a following in the Nordics (and beyond, online), Norway’s Emilie Nicolas is now getting a proper big launch in the UK. She’ll release her first UK single ‘Grown Up’ on March 16th, and the album ‘Like A Warrior’ on June 1st.
Has this already been out elsewhere for a while? Yes. The album came out in Scandinavia at the end of last year, and has already had four singles released from it. It makes sense that ‘Grown Up’ is the first UK single though, as it was her first original release (after her cover of ‘Pstereo’ by DumDum Boys).
What’s it like? A mellow synth track that in parts (and quite a lot of them actually) resembles the productions employed on Björk’s ‘Homogenic’ album. It gets bigger and bigger (and incidentally, better and better!) as the song progresses.
Who is behind it all? Emilie herself, along with Eivind Helgerød, Nicolay Tangen Svennaes and Anders Opdahl.
