What’s this? Finnish pop icon Eini has returned to the scene with a bang – and most definitely a banger. Her latest single ‘Pimeän Jälkeen’.
What does that mean? After Dark!
What’s it like? You might not be familiar with the Finnish language, but those ABBA-esque piano crescendos hinted at before you’re even a fraction of the way through the first verse should be familiar enough for you to realise that you’re home, you’re where you belong, and you’re in a safe pair of hands. This is some good old-fashioned schlager with enough sonic absurdities shoehorned within to make it seem like it’s nothing you’ve ever heard before. And now we want nothing more than to hear it again.
Written by? Jonas Olsson and Kaisa Korhonen.
More from Eini? Some of us remember her from that time she competed in the Finnish Eurovision pre-selection in 2016 with the song ‘Draamaa‘. We’re the lucky ones. Though perhaps not as lucky as those who still remember her participation in the Finnish national final of 1996.
