This has been a long time coming! Well she had to allow one of the biggest Swedish-language hits of the year in her native Sverige to run its course! But now Clara Klingenström is ready to follow up ‘Behöver Inte Dig Idag’ – with new single ‘Liv’, out today.
What’s it like? As with its predecessor, ‘Liv’ is built on the premise of taking something traumatic from Clara’s life, dealing with it head-on in the lyrics, and channeling it into a an upbeat song that sends out only positive vibes into the universe. And as ‘Liv’ once again proves, it’s a formula that really allows her to shine as an artist.
What does Clara say?On August 13, 2020, my dad died. When I was a kid, my dad was my best friend. During my teens, my dad developed an alcohol addiction that made me finally choose to end my relationship with him when I was 14 years old. After that, I tried to repress him – and us – which made me feel very bad. When I received the message that my father was in the intensive care unit at Visby Hospital, I chose to see him again. We cried together, were reconciled and had an incredibly nice ending that was life-changing for me. After I had met Dad, I looked in the mirror and could then see both Dad and Mom in me. I was whole again. When I wrote the song, I closed my eyes and saw Dad in front of me, as if I was talking to him. The song is for Dad but also for me and my siblings. Those of us who will live on after someone close to us has died.”
Written by? Clara herself, along with David Lindgren Zacharias. Produced by Johan Lindbrandt.
