Norway’s Astrid S is out with quite an admirable new pop project. Ahead of her new album – a record which she’s still finalising – she’s been going through some recently composed songs and gathered together some of her favourites which don’t quite fit with the sound she wants on her new album. But rather than discarding them, she’s putting together an interim EP, made up of those very tunes. Today the first of them is out – ‘Side Effects’. A sweet pop melody with a production that finds itself somewhere on the UK garage-music scene back at the turn of the century.
