Last night Iceland had the final of its annual Söngvakeppnin – the contest through which the country decides its entry to the Eurovision Song Contest. We have a winner, and Iceland has its 2018 Eurovision entry.

A big, bold ballad, which showcases Ari’s mightily impressive voice. A voice that has seen him perform in many musical theatre productions in his native Iceland. The song is heavy on the cheese, reminiscent of whenever Westlife allowed their sound to veer into Josh Groban territory. It’s a bombastic number, which is likely to make an impression when it’s performed in the first Eurovision semi in May. Will it be enough to give Iceland its first qualification to the final in four years though?…..
