Danish newcomer Ameli Dot is back with a brand-new single, which is her third now. ‘Machete’ is a retro-themed riot of tune, in which she’s having a lot of fun with the lyrics, and has even managed to shoe-horn in some wolf howling, which is never a bad thing in this post-Subwoolfer pop landscape we’re living in. It’s an up-tempo party-starter, albeit if that party were going on in the ’60s. And its bags of charm mean that it could well become her second Danish radio airplay number 1, after last year’s debut single.
