What’s this? Swedish pop gent Alvaro Estrella has gone and released his own version of Justin Bieber’s modern-day festive classic ‘Misteltoe’.
What’s he done that for? We had precisely the same thought when we first learned he had chosen to cover that song. What’s the point? But actually, there is a point to its existence. Because he’s done something quite different to it. He’s given the song a hugely charming, latin-inspired makeover. To the point that we actually prefer it to the now rather bland in comparison original. And to the further point that we would now welcome an entire album of Christmas covers from Alvaro done in precisely this style. So it’s funny how things turn out.
