Herrelands-what now? AKA the Danish men’s national football team. Alphabeat have invited them along to appear on their new single – ‘Danmarks Dynamite’.
Why would they do a thing like that? Because ‘Danmarks Dynamite’ is the official anthem of Denmark’s participation in the Euro 2021 football tournament!
Ah, well that’s a nice touch! What do they do, join in on a chanty chorus? That, but also a whole lot more than most football teams. Three of the players – Kasper Schmeichel, Yussuf Poulsen and Pierre Emile-Højbjerg – actually come to the fore and tackle the first verse.
What’s the song like? Well by the end of it, you’ll be singing “we are red and white, Denmark’s dynamite“, so in that sense it’s very much done it’s job. Catchy, playful and it leaves you rooting for the Danes. Because of course Alphabeat understood the assignment and kicked it right in the back of the net. Did we do that sports reference correctly?
What do Alphabeat say? “‘Danmarks Dynamite’ is not just an Alphabeat song… It’s a song from us and all the players to all of Denmark. And we hope it will create a sense of community and unity around our beautiful little country, when the boys head off on their great football adventures – together fighting for the victory and gold at the Euro Championship.”
