What’s this? It’s a new song by Ace Wilder! ‘Monkey On My Back’, released today.
New single? Not quite. She’s released it as part of 7 Eleven’s Songs With Pride initiative, which launched this week in Sweden – what with it being Stockholm Pride week and all that. Ace wrote the song after meeting and being inspired by Sam and his story. Sam is a 10 year old Swede who was born a girl, but who has chosen to live his life as a boy.
What’s the song like? A hugely charming REGGAE POP song that we are living for today. A carefree, two-fingers-to-the-world, summer flavoured track. Which is the perfect way to tell Sam’s story. “You can live how you wanna live”, “I’m a fish that’s swimming upstream, I go against the tide”.
