Sweden’s given birth to a new poppet. This one’s called Sheri! And we’re thinking of her as the new Jessica Folcker. Largely because she’s working with legendary songwriter and producer, Andreas Carlsson, who was at the helm of Jessica Folcker’s music when she first started out over a decade ago, as well as producing countless hits for the likes of Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, *NSync, 5ive, and Westlife. Andreas, along with the rest of the Cheiron team, were responsible for the sound of pop music around the world in the late nineties. And what an amazing sound that was!
Sheri’s debut single ‘Hit and Run’ doesn’t stray too far from that sort of music either. In fact, it sounds a lot like the music that Stargate (who are themselves, linked with Cheiron) is making these days for Shontelle, Beyonce, Chris Brown, and Rihanna. But you can look at the video for the single below, and judge for yourselves. The song was co-written by Kalle Engstrom, who was responsible for the phenomenal ‘Work’ by The Saturdays!
Sheri is the first and so far, only, signing to new Swedish record label Mamia Music. There’s no word yet on a UK release – apparently they’re setting their sights on the US first!
