Here is a rather ace song that’s just come out in Norway (well – April 11th, but we only discovered it recently). ‘We Don’t Need Nobody’ by Secret Sebastian.
It’s a cheery slice of funked up electronic disco. Scandi flavoured, in that it could quite easily be mistaken for being a recent single from their fellow countryfolk Donkeyboy (apols for the overly obvious comparison there, readers and band). And not only is it of a similar genre, it’s also just as infectiously upbeat as the stuff that those other Norwegian pop scamps are renowned for coming out with. It’s a joy.
The production here is flawless. So much so, that against ALL odds, our favourite bit of the song is actually the extended instrumental outro.
Secret Sebastian consist of producers and writers Halvor Folstad, Dag Holtan-Hartwig and Axel Myre Hyge – three Norwegian chaps who met each other while all studying at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. And they’re gallant enough to have allowed a lady to provide vocals to their new song – female vox being the best of all vox ever. The girl singing is Canada’s own Lauren Flynn.
