Sweden has produced a latin flavoured dance pop track – and is ushering it out now to combat the decidedly unlatin feeling in the air around Scandinavian at this time of year.

It’s ‘No Control’ and comes courtesy of Sayen, a Swedish native with Chilean blood. We like it for its pop sensibilities, its simplistic melodies, and most of all for its barmy post-chorus. Hispanic rhythms in a marriage of convenience to Scandinavian pop. But by golly it works!

Poplife magazine dubs her “Sweden’s latinpop Princess”. Given that we’ve never heard of her before now, that seems a tad ludicrous. But then on further pondering we realise that there’s not really anyone else in the game to challenge that title, so she’s got it. Plus on closer inspection of her biography, it does seem like she’s been doing this for quite a while, so has earned her dues.

‘No Control’ is the first single from Sayen’s album which is coming up in 2012. She’s been working on it alongside Fernando Fuentes (who works a lot with Tony Nilsson!) and Yei Gonzalez. So we will indeed be watching this ‘space’.

There’s a full batch of remixes to listen to here, but it’s finest in its original form – here;
