Meet Nova Delai – Sweden’s newest and nextest 17 year old pop sensation, who has just released her debut single, ‘Slippering Into Sleep’.

Once you get over the bizarre choice of wording in the title, you can settle into enjoying the song. This one is a real beauty. Grippingly atmospheric and very enchanting. Starting off as a fragile and stark piece and then ending with vaguely up-tempo and uplifting strings and a piano, with Nova providing a ghostly choir like backing vocal as the extended outro plays out.

The single’s b-side ‘All For The Best‘ is also quite nice too.

Comparisons with Amanda Mair seem obvious and perhaps a little bit lazy – but they’re gonna be there regardless. She’s Swedish, she’s of a certain age, she writes similar sounding songs, and she’s a wizz on the old piano too. Although given the critical acclaim that Amanda has had bestowed upon her over the last 12 months, we can’t see little Nova being too distressed about those aforementioned comparisons.

Here you can take a listen to ‘Slippering Into Sleep’ in full – it’s the song’s video;
