Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix 2022: Your Guide to Heat 2

It’s the second of six weeks in which Norway is searching for its 2022 Eurovision song, via Melodi Grand Prix. In last week’s first heat, Frode Vassel secured himself a slot in the final with his song ‘Black Flowers‘.

Tonight, four more songs will compete for one further place in that final. Plus, there’ll be a performance from Christian Ingebrigtsen previewing his pre-qualified finalist ‘Wonder Of The World’. You can tune into the show at NRK’s website, wherever you are in the world – with the broadcast commencing at 19.50 CET. You’ll be watching this lot battling it out;

Farida: Dangerous
(Farida Bolseth Benounis, Rasmus Simon Vedvik Thallaug, Atle Pettersen, Peter Newman and Hannah Dorothy Bistow)
Farida became a Scandipop fave in 2020 when she released the excellent ‘Do About It‘ – and she’s a name we’re glad to finally see in the Melodi Grand Prix line-up. Her song ‘Dangerous’ is quite different to what we’ve heard from her before – but no less captivating. It’s an atmospheric, dramatic ballad that is sure to make a big impact on that giant stage.

Steffen Jakobsen: With Me Tonight
(Mats William Wennerberg and Nicolai Herwell)
A country singer who rose to fame in Norway by finishing 3rd in Idol in 2013. Steffen brings with him to the contest his trademark country fare, with the tempo increased to engage voting Norwegians who are tuning in for a Saturday evening’s entertainment.

Lily Löwe: Bad Baby
(Lill Sofie Wilsberg, Trond Holter and Victoria Land)
A new artist who is about to release her first album, and will be using MGP as a launchpad for her own brand of rock music. ‘Bad Baby’ is a modern interpretation of classic ’80s arena-rock anthems that, with the right staging, could well be an enthralling proposition for plenty of viewers tonight.

Daniel Lukas: Kvelertak
(Daniel Lukas Kalelic and Are Næsset)
Having previously competed in Melodi Grand Prix Junior in 2013 with the song ‘Tiden Går Fort’, Daniel finally makes the transition to the big competition in 2022. His song ‘Kvelertak’ is funked up approach to electronica with a contemporary edge.
