There’s just one week to go until the next scandipop club night! Last month saw the club at its busiest since our opening night, and it was great to see so many pop fans out in force and having a great night. Miming along (badly) to lyrics in a foreign language never gets boring – and the Scandinavians present were more than happy to sing along and drown out the mispronunciations!
The last four weeks have been a great month for new Scandinavian music. As well as Melodifestivalen in Sweden, and Melodi Grand Prix in Norway, Swedish dance music has taken to the UK radio airwaves in droves! September, Velvet, Star Pilots, and Ercola are all recieving heavy rotation. Agnes and Alcazar also announced plans to release a single in the UK in the coming months too. And Royksopp arrived back with a new album – containing a stunning collaboration with Robyn.
So next week we’ll be featuring multiple plays of the very best Melodifestivalen 2009 songs, as well as choice tracks from the new albums by Velvet and Alcazar. And obviously we’ll be hammering the usual schlager anthems and pop/dance epics!
On top of all that, we’ve got some exciting news to reveal next month, as scandipop gets even bigger and more interactive! But we’ll keep quite for now…..
Do come along next week though. Cheap entry (£3 or free for students), and cheap booze all night. Plus we’re open from 8.30pm – leaving plenty of time to party for all those sensible types that like to dash off in time for the last tube during their midweek nights out! And we don’t close until 3am – for the revellers that don’t like to leave until the lights come on. And of course, it’s in Central London – so it’s easy to get there and back.
