Who knew that the world needed an update of Sixpence None The Richer’s seminal 90s hit ‘Kiss Me’? But it did! It really did.
Step forward Danish dance producer Morten Hampenberg (we’ve written about his marvellous creations a few times before on here) and his vocalist du jour, Gaia. It’s a dance recreation of the song, but nowhere near as ‘hard’ as his past clubland offerings. This is instead a dreamy, chillout production.
How much you appreciate this may well depend on your age. If you’re old enough to have loved this song first time around, then perhaps you’ll find it harder to get into. But there are plenty of young music lovers who might well be unfamiliar with the original (yes, the song really is that old, and time really has gone that quickly), and this new version is gonna be a great discovery for them. Plus, it’s a highly decent update, so the purists can’t be too cross.
