You MUST remember Minnie-Oh from last year, right?
She competed in Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix with the amazing, and Scandipop Award nominated number ‘You & I‘.
Well now over a year later, she’s back with the follow-up single ‘Step Up’, which will be released on May 10th. And mercifully, if you did indeed love ‘You & I’ first time around, then chances are ‘Step Up’ is gonna be pretty much up your street too – as it’s quite similar. Scandinavian electropop, but with a much brighter shade to it than her contemporaries are used to putting out. It’s happy and stuff innit. Like ‘You & I’ before it, ‘Step Up’ is electropop with a stronger emphasis on the pop. And it’s another song that would have fitted in well on Melodi Grand Prix.
This is hugely pleasing. As it could easily have been the case that ‘You & I’ was a one-off, tailored especially towards MGP. But no. This really is the kind of music that Minnie-Oh likes to make. And now we just hope that she doesn’t make us wait until Autumn 2014 for the follow-up.
