We’ve had the 4 heats and the 32 songs, Sweden has watched and voted in record numbers, and now – NOW – there are 8 finalists known for next week’s Melodifestivalen final. But wait – there’s room for 2 more! So this weekend, Andra Chansen takes place. It’s the round in which all of the songs that finished in 3rd and 4th places in their respective heats, battle it out for those last two slots in the final.
It’s not your standard voting progress though, in this round. Instead, the 8 songs are pitted against each other in duels that will be voted on by the Swedish public – Duel 1, Duel 2, Duel 3, and Duel 4. The winners of Duels 1 and 2 will face each other in a further duel, and then the winners of Duels 3 and 4 will do the same. And then the two songs that come out victorious, kiss goodbye to the rest, and make their way to the Melodifestivalen final.
Simple. But heartbreaking!
Today, just a few moments ago, SVT held a draw that was broadcast live on their website, and announced who would be facing who in each duel. And below we have the line-up. We’ve also jotted down our personal preferences as to how these duels will pan out, and our predictions.

That all seems naively positive from our viewpoint doesn’t it?! Ask us again in 24 hours and you may get a different answer. But from the duels and predictions above – we can see Dynazty and Lotta & Christer winning places in Globen.
You’ll be able to watch the whole thing live on SVT’s website at 7pm (UK time) on Saturday night.
Already though, both the Melodifestivalen DVD and CD are available to pre-order from our online store here. The CD is released tomorrow, and the DVD on March 30th.
