So, in keeping with tradition, during last night’s Dansbandskampen, SVT announced the details of one more participant of Melodifestivalen 2011! Previously the show has given us Scotts and Highlights as (very good) MF entries.
The winners of last year’s Dansbandskampen, The Playtones, will compete with a track called ‘The King’, composed by Fredrik Kempe and Peter Kvint. Now, unfortunately The Playtones aren’t really OUR kind of dansband, in that they’re more ‘rockabilly’ than schlager. However, with seasoned Melodifestivalen songwriters Fredrik Kempe and Peter Kvint at the helm, we’re actually quite looking forward to hearing what they come out with. Rockabilly we CAN’T handle. Rockabilly crossed with schlager?……let’s see!
Tomorrow morning, we’re heading to SVT HQ again for the press conference in which they announce the final lot of names competing in heats three and four of Melodifestivalen. And as with last week, we’ll be tweeting live from the room, so ”tune in” at 9am UK time!
