The final Melodifestivalen participant was announced this afternoon. We’d been waiting to hear who they, the 4th wildcard, would be for over a month! Rumours abound that it was going to be Lena Philipsson, or Jenny from Ace of Base, or Linda Sundblad, along with a few other names – but those three were mentioned most. But as it turns out, it’s neither of them. Instead it’s…….Pauline.
And while she’s obviously very successful and well known in some circles, we’ve never heard of her. We’re not ENTIRELY sure what to expect with this one, but she’s a soul/r&b artist, a genre that we actually really like, despite it being lightyears away from the likes of ‘Idag & Imorgon’! We’re especially heartened by the songwriter list that includes; Fredrik Ödesjö who’s contributed to albums by Sugababes, Holly Valance, Christina Milian, and Shontelle; and Johan Wetterberg who’s worked with Anna Abreu. The song ‘Sucker For Love’ (if ONLY cover versions were allowed – we love that Danity Kane track!), was also composed by Andreas Levander and Pauline Kamusewu.
Pauline will compete with ‘Sucker For Love’ in Heat 2 of the contest, which starts in just over 4 weeks time!
