Melodifestivalen 2009: The Final…

It’s the Melodifestivalen final this weekend. After months of anticipation, four weeks of hearing the 32 songs participating, and last week’s second chance round (where Sarah Dawn Finer, Caroline Af Ugglas, and Sofia progressed to the final), it all comes down to this.

Melodifestivalen 2009 has without a doubt been the strongest ever. Both in terms of song quality, and artist status. Each heat was packed full of great tracks and big names, and that’s naturally led to there being lots of disappointments and surprises along the way. Soon we’ll be doing a full lowdown and write up of our top 20 favourite entries this year (complete with the performance videos!), but for now, let’s concentrate on the final….

And not only is it the strongest final there’s been for many a year, it’s also the most wide open in terms of winning chances. Usually in the final it’s a foregone two or three horse race as to who will be crowned victor. But this year we’d say that around 75% of the songs are in with a good shot of winning. And the opinion polls agree. All around the internet there are varying thoughts and predictions – the only conclusion that has been reached is that it is almost anyone’s game!

Saturday night is going to be very exciting indeed!

We’re going to be in Stockholm for the final, but if you don’t live in Sweden then you can watch the show at Or if you live in London, then you can make your way to The Harcourt Arms where they’re broadcasting live (although you should book tickets quickly as they’re almost sold out).

And here’s the final line up, and the order in which they’ll be performing;

  • Mans Zelmerlow – ‘Hope and Glory’
  • Caroline Af Ugglas – ‘Snalla Snalla’
  • Agnes – ‘Love Love Love’
  • H.E.A.T. – ‘1,000 Miles’
  • Emilia – ‘You’re My World’
  • Alcazar – ‘Stay The Night’
  • Sarah Dawn Finer – ‘Moving On’
  • E.M.D. – ‘Baby Goodbye’
  • Sofia – ‘Alla’
  • Molly Sanden – ‘Sa Vill Stjarnorna’
  • Malena Ernman – ‘La Voix’
