Norwegian electropop starlet Maya Vik has been WOWING us with every new song for the last 12 months or so now. And she’s doing it once again with the release of her latest track ‘Dynamite’. Even more so given that it’s a free download.
‘Dynamite’ keeps Maya Vik firmly in the 80s where she has always sounded most at home before now. Pete Hammond pop music crossed with Prince style funk music. The production on ‘Dynamite’ is pure eighties. If her craft is imitating the sounds of that decade, then she’s developing more and more with each new release until we get to ‘Dynamite’ – an authentic glimpse into the pop music of that era. Her other trademark is also present and turned up – that sultry and soft panting vocal, which in turn lends itself so well to the style of music that she’s adopted as her own.
Maya Vik has quietly become one of Norway’s finest in 2013.
