Well Sweden might not have been able to do the X Factor very well (STILL waiting on the winner’s single, over three months later), but they’ve proved a dab hand at turning the most awful of the reality TV singing contests, The Voice, into a successful production line of pop gems. And now after Mary N’Diaye’s ‘Big Dreamer’ and Nicole SabounĂ©’s ‘Conquer Or Suffer’ comes the latest fruits of that show’s labour – the debut single from Maverick, ‘Ain’t So Bad’.
Today, Expressen hosted the premiere of the video. ‘Ain’t So Bad’ is a hugely melodic, mid-tempo, pop ballad – delivered via Maverick’s gravelly, not-so-pop vocal. Easy listening, and effortlessly instant. But with a lyric that grabs your attention. Politely.
Maverick aka Marcus Sennewald, has actually been at this pop lark for quite a while, despite being the tender age of 21, although this is his first release as a solo artist. Before all this, he was in the Bubblegum Europopgroup BnG. And then after that he went on a songwriting sabbatical. His next step was taking part in the Swedish version of The Voice, where he was picked for Petter’s team. And now ‘Ain’t So Bad’ is his debut single.
And good Christ, isn’t he just so handsome?!
Watch the video below, and delight at the fact that he has released it onto iTunes worldwide.
