Fresh from his respectable stint at this year’s Melodifestivalen with ‘När Änglarna Går Hem’, Martin Stenmarck this month returns with a brand new single. It’s called ‘Sommarbarn’.
In the words of Martin’s team, ‘Sommarbarn’ is; “a song that takes a step away from the arena and instead puts its finger on that feeling of sitting on a sun-drenched porch on a hot summer day with the guitar in your lap“. We’ve never had a guitar in our lap, and never want to – so we wouldn’t know about that. But yes, ‘Sommarbarn’ certainly takes the tempo down a notch and comes across as a more Mumford & Sons sound than the Coldplay hit influenced song that he took to the Melodifestivalen stage a couple of months back. It’s very catchy stuff, thanks in part to an infectious whistle riff. And actually, despite it not being our usual ‘scene’, we’re enjoying this one very much. It’s very warm and fuzzy.
ODDLY – ‘Sommarbarn’ isn’t included on his new EP which came out last month. Yeah, cheers for that Martin. However, the press release which accompanied this single states that new material is coming this autumn, so we guess that there’s an album on its way.
Anyway – here is the song;
