Well we don’t usually devote whole posts to artists doing acoustic YouTube covers of other people’s songs, but THIS needs some attention.
Manda, whom some of you may remember from when we featured her debut single ‘Sweetest Heartbreak‘ earlier this year, has today come out with this extra special cover of Jay Z and Justin Timberlake’s recent hit ‘Holy Grail’. What makes it so special? Well first and foremost it’s the phenomenal vocals. Not everyone can cover a Justin Timberlake vocal and end up improving on it. And then there’s the fact that she somehow brings out an even more dramatic element to the melody (which was beautifully dramatic in the first place), both with the theatrical piano and her aforementioned vocal. Plus, she manages to then accentuate that melody further – her delivery of it is a lot more clean, and therefore it can be appreciated even more than within the original.
So yeah, pretty amazing all in all.
Manda, who featured in last year’s first (and last) series of Swedish X Factor, has been working with Joy and Linnea Deb on new music which is forthcoming.
