Sweden’s Crown Prince of Christmas music, Magnus Carlsson, has this week unleashed another festive treat upon iTunes.
Not content with masterminding a SIXTY SEVEN track Christmas compilation already this year, he’s tacked his own three songs from the release onto another new EP, and decorated it with a new recording. The song and EP both called ‘Arrival’.
‘Arrival’ is a cover of the Sarah Brightman track. And that itself was a recording of the original Abba song of the same name, with new added lyrics by the band’s own Björn Ulvaeus. As such, the song is especially a scandipop yuletide favourite already. The Magnus version doesn’t stray too far away from Sarah’s, in terms of production. But although we love Sarah’s version dearly – the Magnus Carlsson recording might appeal to those fans of vocals being a little more pop. Whereas Sarah sounds (welcomely) intrusive, Magnus is much more soft and calming. It should be a natural addition to many’s Christmas playlists.
You can have a listen to clips of the other three Magnus Carlsson songs on the EP here. And you can buy a great deal of his music AND the aforementioned 67 track Christmas compilation form our online store here.
