Linda Pritchard had a surprise in store for her fans today. The announcement of a new single. And it is a BRAND NEW single at that, one that doesn’t appear on her album released earlier this year.
It’s a cover of Chris Isaak’s ‘Wicked Game’, but not just a bog standard re-thread. Nope! She’s clubbed it up to HI-NRG heights.On paper, you may have your reservations if you enjoy the original. However, we think she’s done a great job on it. It’s a palatable slice of dancefloor melodrama!
Vocally, she’s quite restrained on it. Or at least restrained given what we know she’s capable of. It suits the song though of course, and her vocal curtailment lends itself to the admirable attempt to ensure no harm is done to the famous fragility of Chris Isaak’s original delivery. Of course fans of the song may well complain, but we think Linda’s version is brill!
