Laleh returned this week with brand new single ‘Colors’. It’s her first new material since the mega successful ‘Sjung’ album from last year, which launched the ph’nom ‘Some Die Young’ amongst others. And of course that ‘Sjung’ record followed on from her hugely fruitful stint on Så Mycket Bättre.
The great news is that ‘Colors’ is also ph’nom. Perhaps even up there with the aforementioned ‘Some Die Young’, although it’s too early to say for now. It’s a song with more than one tempo and direction. You may think that THAT chorus following THAT verse is the song’s highlight. But then comes THAT middle eight. Which is then mercifully semi repeated as THAT outro. Yes, it’s pretty brilliant all in all. You get the sense that it’s something new from Laleh, while still maintaining all the best bits from her last album.
‘Colors’ is the first single to be taken from her new album of the same name, due out next month.
The song, as yet, is limited to a Scandinavian release. But you can listen to it in full below – just below where you can watch her first TV performance of it from Friday, on Skavlan.
