Meet the latest Swedish pop boy on the block. 20 year old Josef Johansson. But more specifically, meet his absolute TUNE of a debut single ‘Baby Baby’.
A ballad with a beat. And serving the sweetest of melodies as a chorus. It’s that chorus which is the ultimate breakout star of this song. A song which is becoming something of a breakout star itself – at the time of writing, it’s had over 36,000 listens in the mere two days it’s been up on YouTube. Not bad going considering the chap has less than 150 “likes” on his Facebook fan page.
We think we might be onto something big here. But deservedly so. That chorus deserves a million more YouTube listens. Oh, and we also quite enjoy the parts during the second verse where it sounds like an electronic generator is malfunctioning.
This Josef Johansson is intriguing us. On the one hand he looks like he could go quite indie, but on the other hand, he sounds like he’s so pop. So we’re awaiting the second single already, with bated breath – to see if he truly is gonna be one of our favourite new musical discoveries of 2013. (*a hint if you’re reading, Josef……go POP!*)
