Jonas Oakland’s been absent from pop for a while now hasn’t he? Almost a year since the Swedish singer’s last single ‘Who’s That Boy‘, which of course followed on from that amazing version of ‘Where Were You Last Night‘ he released.
Well on Monday he’ll put out a brand new single – ‘When The Music Dies’. It’s a dancepop track first and foremost, one that slots comfortably into today’s pop landscape. And with a darker shade of dance, an electronic element ramped up quite a bit, and all anchored by an enormous emphasis on the bassline, it’s actually quite ‘MDNA’ come to think of it. This is probably catchier than a lot of the tracks on that particular album though, particularly, as time as taught us, that descending “don’t you e-ver” line. We didn’t reckon upon it on first listen, but it really does stick.
Here, Jonas Oakland gives Scandipop readers a preview of the song. Verse, chorus, post-chorus, boom;
