We got given a marvellous new addition to the Scandipop scene at the end of last year. Brother and sister duo Sixten and Tova Strandell, and their debut single ‘Chance of Rain’. AND their debut EP of the same name. All need checking out. The duo’s sound and style are planted firmly in the folkpop mold, with one foot in the countrypop mold. But they are most definitely on the POP side of those two genres. The first four songs on the EP are upbeat – infectiously so. And then they finish things off with a heartbreak ballad. Though it’s the opening number and the EP’s title track which shines the brightest of the lot. It’s an un-missable first body of work however, which we can’t recommend enough.
Over the weekend, the duo released an new version of ‘Chance of Rain’ – an acoustic recording. Check that out below, plus the video for ‘Chance of Rain’, and their first televised performance of the song (and ‘The Final Bow’ from the EP).
You can find ‘Chance of Rain’ (original version) on our Best New Artists playlist.
