Get yourself acquainted with 21 year old Swedish singer Miriam Bryant. Or more specifically, her new single ‘Push Play’.
She’s pretty new. In 2012 she released a single and put a couple of buzz tracks online or something. Nothing that floated our shiny plastic toy boat, but enough to put her into some well respected year-end lists, and also enough for Aftonbladet to predict that she’ll be 2013’s number 1 breakthrough artist. A big claim, but based on the new single that P3 Radio premiered yesterday, one which might just hold some weight.
It’s ‘Push Play’. And it’s bloody good. As much about the instrumental post-chorus as it is about the killer chorus. And that’s always a sign of a splendid track. It’s upbeat, it’s rousing, and a little bit different to anything else that’s out there at the moment. But as with pretty much everything featured on this website – it all boils down to a fantastic melody that’s left in your head after the song has played.
