New Scandipop boyband alert!

From left to right, meet Viktor, Martin, Johan, and Ervin. Or LVL4, as they’ll be calling themselves from now on.

Formed earlier this year, and managed by one of Scandinavia’s most successful and well respected management figures, Victoria Ekeberg, the chaps are in the midst of their launch this summer. They’ve been performing at gigs around Sweden, recording with different writers and producers, and attending events together in an effort to become known to ‘the industry’ and ‘the scene’, as a new band must do these days.

It’s always quite difficult to work out how successful a boyband is going to be – or isn’t going to be, as is often the case. However, LVL4 have an ace of sorts up their pleather sleeves, or rather two aces. Both Viktor and Ervin from the band are already quite well known amongst the Swedish youth, both being substantially huge lifestyle and fashion bloggers. In the case of Viktor in particular, 39,000 Instagram followers are difficult to underestimate, especially when you consider that someone as well known and successful as Ulrik Munther has only 1k more on 40,000.

What’s also gonna help these chaps is the most important ingredient of it all – the music. We’ve not heard anything from them other than the introductory song below, but that’s impressive enough in itself. Once it finds its feet, at least. The first verse and bridge are a bit what’s-going-on-here-then, but EVERYTHING falls into place once you hear that chorus. It’s a nice n’ easy pop melody, with a strong emphasis on the sing-a-long factor. They’ve even included a “la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la-la” refrain. And it doesn’t get catchier than that in the pop world. We also quite like the sentiment of the song too – “go ahead and make mistakes, so what if no one likes you, just live your life“, and “gonna drown the haters – they ain’t got nothing on you“. True that.

The debut single will be released after the summer.

For now though, listen to ‘Nothing On You’ below (preview starts at the 1:33 mark), and keep an ear/eye (or preferably both) out for these guys;
