Who is Jakob Karlberg? A 20 year old chap from Alingsås in Sweden who released his debut single ‘Fan Va Bra’ a few weeks back. And it’s shaping up to be THE song of the summer in Sweden.
How so? 4.5 million Spotify streams later, total saturation on national radio, and this morning he was announced as part of this year’s Allsång på Skansen line-up. This song’s big!
And what’s it like? A hugely charming pop track which Jakob fumbles his way through until he finds the awesome “FAN VA BRA” chorus. It’s enormously catchy, intensely likeable, and accidentally sing-a-long – even if you can only manage the title part.
What does ‘Fan Va Bra’ mean anyway? A three word Swedish phrase that pretty much translates as “fucking hell, how great!!!”.
