Who? Swedish singer and songwriter Johan Hammenfors. Though for the purposes of a pop career, he’s dropping his first name and capitalising his surname.
Fair. And now he’s out with an absurdly catchy track as his debut single. ‘Thinking About’.
What does he say about it? “The beatbox sound in the intro is just a few seconds from a more extended recording where the producers for this song just messed around to get into the right mood. Of that, they also got the most essential rhythmic ingredient that put the feeling in the song.”
Who’s they? Johan – sorry, HAMMENFORS – created the song together with Swedish producers Ardalan Azadi, Yaroslav Polikarpov and Max Sjödin.
Tell us something we don’t know about HAMMENFORS. Back in 2012, when he was just 17, he competed in Sweden’s first and only series of X Factor. In it, he was put into a boyband with four other guys who had auditioned as soloists – One2Five. Alas, nothing came of them, despite some time in the US recording music. A few years later, Johan competed in Idol Sverige, in 2015.
