After causing something of an UPROAR online last week when they debuted their current single ‘I Love It‘ (that’s no exaggeration either – we’ve never seen anything like it for such a little known Swedish act), Icona Pop today premiered another new song on Swedish radio, P3.
‘Rocket Science’ (like ‘I Love It’) was made in collaboration with Style of Eye, and this time he gets a featured credit too. It’s not as in-your-face as ‘I Love It’. For ‘Rocket Science’ they’ve toned it down a little bit and chose to bamboozle the listener via two very stark and very different elements within the production. Actually, make that three. There’s the down-tempo and subtle dubstep thing, that shrieking scratching noise, and a triumphant horn sample.
That description makes it sound like a hot mess, doesn’t it? And yes, perhaps it is. But we’ve long subscribed to and appreciated the concept of the hot mess!
