A veritable TUNE has arrived just in time for the weekend, which is quite considerable of all concerned really. It’s from a new Swedish dance outfit called Galantis, and it serves as their debut single. ‘Smile’.
Galantis is the side project of Swedish super producers Linus Eklow (Style of Eye) and Christian Karlsson (Miike Snow, and Bloodshy of Bloodshy & Avant). It’s a hugely uplifting (hence the title) commercial dance track, that doesn’t stray too far away from the formula so winningly incorporated into Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up’ – that being Scandinavian dance music crossed with American folk/roots music. ‘Smile’ is a banger. And it’s a pretty instant one at that, which bodes well for success. Pete Tong is already a supporter.
